From time immemorial, people of all ages and cultures have dreamed dreams, seen visions, encountered the so-called dead and experienced other psychic happenings. However, it was not until March 1848 that the spirit world made an organized, concerted effort to forge a link between here and Hereafter. It did not choose a lavishly decorated cathedral in which to manifest, but a humble homestead in Hydesville, near the town of Newark, New York. Truly, a child did lead them, for the paranormal activing which occurred centered around two young girls – Margaret and Kate Fox. Communication was rapidly established with a murdered pedlar, with the happenings in Hydesville marking the advent of Modern Spiritualism.
