CSNU (t) - Teacher

Aims of the Teacher Training Scheme:

  • To provide teacher training for Spiritualists in order to promote SNU Spiritualism. This programme is suitable for candidates who wish to organise, teach and assess within the following avenues – at home and abroad:  AFC Centres and colleges, education schemes, churches, healing groups, SNUi, Lyceum and specialist or guest tutoring and schools.
  • To build on existing teaching experience already gained within the SNU and to include further theory in order to increase understanding and knowledge of teaching.
  • To ensure that candidates have both practical and theoretical training in teaching and assessing to accepted standards comparable with further education.
  • To ensure the quality of learning for students within SNU churches, centres and groups.
  • To maintain and develop still further the standards expected in National Spiritualist education.
  • To provide an ongoing and progressive Teacher Training Scheme which maintains, develops and promotes Spiritualist teaching principles.

The objective is to ensure that candidates have both practical and theoretical training in teaching and assessing to accepted standards comparable with further education.

Those successfully completing will be able to organise the learning environment, develop promotional literature, plan sessions, design courses and resource materials, use a variety of teaching methods and aids, assess learning styles, choose and conduct standardised assessment procedure to evaluate learners’ progress.

In addition, they will be able to comply with laws relating to:-

  • Record keeping
  • The organisation in which they teach.
  • Equal Opportunities.
  • Inclusivity and development of key skills.

For the purpose of this course, training is defined as approximately 18 months.

Applicants will be expected to:

  1. Be an Individual Member of the Spiritualists’ National Union
  2. Have some teaching experience in a Spiritualist environment prior to enrolling. Evidence of this, as well as any mainstream teaching experience to be presented in the form of a portfolio on entry to the course.
  3. Hold the CSNU in chosen subject:-

CSNU for Speaking

CSNU for Demonstrating

CSNU for Healing

CSNU for Administration

4. Attend and successfully pass the CSNUt Teacher Training Scheme. The scheme consists of 3 weekends. Part      4 of the scheme is the Final Assessments.

5. If successful, agree to abide by the SNU Award Holder of Conduct.
