SNU Award Categories

Descriptions of SNU Awards & Appointments are listed below.

 

SPECIAL NOTICE OF PROCEDURES THAT APPLY TO ALL POTENTIAL AWARD HOLDERS OF THE SNU

 

(1) Candidates for PAS awards must either be:

(a) a full member of an SNU affiliated Church/Centre,
(b) an Individual Member of the SNU or
(c) a Member of SNU International. 

 

(2)  Candidates for CSNU awards or higher must be an Individual Member of the Union.

 

(3)  All PAS and CSNU candidates must:

(a) enrol on PAS or CSNU and pay the relevant registration and course fees through Redwoods, 
(b) complete the relevant criteria needed to obtain the award and
(c) enrol on the SD1 course (PAS) or SD4 course (CSNU) through the Education Committee and achieve Grade B or higher. 

Payment for education course/s are made through Redwoods.

 

(4)  Take a Final Assessment Board (FAB) carried out by the Training & Awards Committee.

Each award given requires the award holder to have undergone specific education requirements and to meet examination criteria to a high standard. Award holders of the SNU are also required to adhere to a Code of Conduct, to ensure standards and professionalism.....

 

Diploma - DSNU

A Diploma holder has completed a combination of SNU education courses, shown a high degree of practical ability, and passed Assessments. The Assessment seeks, by interview, oral testing and examination of practical work, to assess the candidate's suitability for a diploma.

 

Certificate - CSNU

A Certificate holder has completed some SNU education courses, shown practical ability, and passed Assessments. The Assessment seeks, by interview, oral testing and examination of practical work, to assess the candidate's suitability for a Certificate of Recognition.

 

Platform Accreditation Scheme - PAS

A PAS holder has passed, at least, the Basic Speaking & Demonstrating education course, successfully taken part in 8 intensive training sessions, participated in at least 25 public services and passed Assessments in the subjects of public speaking and/or evidential mediumship.

 

The Chairing and Administration Accreditation Scheme (CAAS)

A CAAS holder has passed, at least, the G1 education course, successfully taken part in the intensive training session, chaired at least 15 services and passed assessments in chairing and administration.

 

Appointments of the SNU

 

Fellowship of the SNU - FSNU

The SNU's highest academic award, granted to SNU Diploma holders who show exceptional knowledge of the religion, philosophy or science of Spiritualism. Applicants for the Fellowship must submit a thesis of at least 20,000 words, of exceptional standard, and suitable for publication on a subject connected with Spiritualism.

 

Teachers of the Spiritualists'National Union - TSNU

The Award of Approved Teacher can be granted in any of the four subjects of Demonstrating, Speaking, Healing or Administration when a candidate has achieved a DSNU (T) in their desired subject, applied to be considered for this appointment, completed the work units required and succeeded at a board assessment.

 

Service Awards of the SNU

 

Gold Service Award - GSSNU

Granted to Spiritualists who have served SNU Spiritualism, at National, Branch, District or Church level, for at least 50 years.

 

Long Service Award - LSSNU

Granted to Spiritualists with 25 years service to the SNU at National, Branch, District or Church level.

 

Candidates for service awards must have been an SNU Individual Member or a member of an affiliated or associated SNU church. Recommendations for service awards must be submitted from churches via District Councils and Branches of the Union.
