Role
of the Training & Awards Committee
written by Minister Tom Haver, committee Chairman
The role of the Training & Awards Committee is to offer training and assessment
through its Platform Accreditation Scheme and Certificate and Diploma
assessments. We also award service awards to people who have worked for our
Churches and the Union for a period of 25 or 50
years. The Committee is made up of
award holders who hold various Certificates and Diplomas of the
Union.
Our tasks are to organise training in the various parts of the
UK
through our tutors who again are award holders. Theoretical and practical
training in the many tasks that Spiritualism promotes is available to those who
desire it.
The Platform Accreditation Scheme provides a sound training background for those
who are ready to start serving our church rostrums, and encourages them to raise
the standards at the beginning of their life’s work for the spirit world and
SNU Spiritualism.
Those who wish to go further can through the SNU Education Committee take
written courses on the theory of mediumship, public speaking, administration and
writing or giving lectures on the science, philosophy and religion of SNU
Spiritualism. Once they have achieved the required test results they can, if the
are Full Class B members of the SNU, apply for recognition at Certificate
level initially then progress toward Diploma standard.
Details of the requirements for all awards can be found in the Education
Committees programme booklet or on this website.
If we truly wish to raise standards in our churches then the Training
& Awards Committee can help to achieve that. Service awards are also available
to non Class B members as well as Class B members who have served in some way
National Spiritualism at Church District or National level. Service awards are
given to those who have completed 25 or 50 years service by running Churches,
making tea, hosting, serving on Committees and who have generally help keep our
Churches open and inviting for the public to enter.
