The SNU is a non-profit making company incorporated under the Companies
Acts with a liability limited by guarantee and not having a capital

The SNU is registered as a religious charity with the Charity

from liability to pay income tax.
Since 1939 the SNU has been legally recognised by the Home
Office as an appointing body for Spiritualist Ministers.
Since 1940 the SNU has held a Certificate from the Lord Chancellor to act as a trust
