The Spiritualists' National Union


Objectives
The main objective of the SNU is to promote the advancement of a knowledge of the religion and religious philosophy of Spiritualism as based on the Seven Principles, as follows:-

1. The Fatherhood of God.
2. The Brotherhood of Man.
3. The Communion of Spirits and the Ministry of Angels.
4. The continuous existence of the human soul.
5. Personal responsibility.
6. Compensation & retribution hereafter for all the good & evil deeds
    done on earth.
7. Eternal progress open to every human soul.

Membership
The SNU has 'members' instead of shareholders. The principle members are the 350 affiliated churches & centres, represented by Class A delegates, and the approximate 2,481 subscribing members known as Class B members. Within the churches and centres, as at the end of 2006, there were 15,609 full members and 2,244 associate members. The SNU membership has a postal vote to elect the President and two Vice-Presidents. The membership make postal nominations for the positions of Standing Committee chairmen and the officers select the most appropriate candidate from these nominations.

Legal Framework
The SNU is a not for profit, limited company registered within the UK having charitable status. As with all companies it has Articles and a Memorandum of Association. Additionally, the SNU has established bye-laws that help to regulate and standardise the activities of the Union.

Administrative Structure
The Spiritualists' National Union has an administrative structure comprising of a National Executive Committee (NEC) that delegates some of its functions to the Standing Committees, Sub-Committee & appointees, an advisory National Council, 14 District Councils or branches, plus a Lyceum Union branch.
