At the close of this years AGM at Warwick University South Western and North Lancs. and Cumbria District Council both agreed to investigate staging the 2012 annual meeting

 

The last SNU AGM to be held in the South Western district was in 1955 and it is my view that our return is long overdue. The Executive Committee of South Western DC gave the matter lengthy consideration but decided that they are unable to host next years meeting, they have however agreed to further research the issue with a view to bringing a proposal to next years meeting for 2013.

 

North Lancs. and Cumbria hosted conference in 2010 at The Hilton Hotel Blackpool and the event was certainly a great success with every Church in the district taking part in organising and supporting the weekends event.

 

Under the presidency of John Goodman the Executive Committee are keen to host the 2012 event and at its last meeting the NEC accepted the invitation

 

It is proposed that we return to the Hilton in Blackpool and early discussions with the hotel established that they were unable to accommodate us on the proposed date due to a large Golfing Tournament in the town which meant the hotel was already fully booked. However it has now been agreed that we will bring forward next years date to 13th/14th and 15th July 2012.

 

I fully appreciate how many members take bookings two or three years in advance and build their work around the AGM dates and I only hope that by giving you the maximum amount of notice of the change you will be able to accommodate the new dates into your diary.

 

I hope I speak for all members when I say how much we are looking forward to visiting Blackpool again and the warm welcome and excellent hospitality from North Lancs. and Cumbria.

 

Should any DC be considering organising Annual Conference I will be pleased to provide any necessary information which will held the planning process working now I hope three years in advance.
