Finance Committee

The Finance Committee is a sub-committee of the SNU and reports directly to the National Executive Committee (NEC). The Finance Committee's functions are :-
  • Monitor the income, expenditure and cash-flow of the Union on a month by month basis.
  • Monitor the performance of the SNU's savings and investments.
  • Liaise with the SNU's accountants ensuring that the SNU complies with legal requirements.
  • Ensure that annual accounts are prepared and audited ready for the Annual General Meetings in July
  • Examine issues that have significant financial implications for the SNU.
  • In consultation with the Standing Committees, discuss and sets prices to be charged for SNU services, goods for sale and rents receivable.
  • Consider ways for increasing revenue for the SNU.
  • Consider and set budgets for repair and improvements to the SNU's land and buildings, excluding Stansted Hall itself.
The Finance Committee, chaired by the Financial Director of the SNU, is responsible for overseeing the Union’s accounting and finances and for the maintenance and upkeep of the Stansted Estate, apart from Stansted Hall which is cared for by the Arthur Findlay College Committee.
