Induction Course for New or Associate Members of a Church

The purpose of the Induction Course is to provide some basic knowledge of Spiritualism.

Course to be run weekly or on dates set by the Church. Each topic to be conducted by a member of the Church Committee, or a Church member who is conversant with the subject matter, which means the leader could be a different person at each meeting.

The evenings should be limited to perhaps one and a half hours, this should give the leader time to talk on the subject and to encourage discussion, questions and debate.

If preferred the course could be run over one, or two full days.

The Church should make a small charge for each evening in order to cover the costs of lighting and heating.

There is no written work, but this should not stop the newcomers making notes, for future reference.

In its recently revised 'Rules For Churches', the SNU has made it compulsory (as from Jan 2009)that all new Full Members of churches must have gone through its induction course.

This Induction Course Syllabus has been produced by the SNU Education Committee

Extra Topic

If the Church has a Lyceum group then a further topic could be added by an evening on this subject.

Churches would be well advised to hold a copy of the B1 Basic Spiritualism Education Course notes as this will provide information on all Topics, and will be a help to all the class leaders.

After completing the Induction Course all newcomers should then be encouraged to study the B1 Education Course, Basic Spiritualism. They should all be ready for this course now!

Maybe a letter of completion could be awarded to all who finish the course, and perhaps their names displayed on the Church notice board. It could be that this would help to encourage the next group to attend the Induction Courses.

It is envisaged that each Church run the Course perhaps twice a year.
