Accounting Advice for SNU Churches & Centres

For the 2005 financial year we complied figures that summed the total income and expenditure of all the Churches and centres affiliated to the SNU. These figures show that SNU Spiritualism nationally had income of over £3 million and made a surplus of £1/2 million.

On this page you will find information and advice to assist SNU church Treasurers and Committees in maintaining their church financial accounting records.

We are updating the SNU churches Treasurers' Manual, this should soon be available from this website.

For the 2007 year-end account forms, the SNU introduced changes to the format.

Advice to Treasurers: You do not have to provide the breakdown of your financial activities exactly as per these forms. If you use professional accountants to produce your accounts statements or have an existing format that works well for you then by all means you may continue to use those. If you use the forms that we provide, then fill our new forms in the best way you can and next year try and keep a record of income and expenditure more in line with the category divisions on the form.

Please forgive us for making the accounts statement requirements more detailed but, in the long term, this breakdown of information will be useful to your members and help Spiritualism nationally to keep relevant and comparable data.
