Platform Accreditation Scheme (PAS)

The PAS scheme gives training, practical experience, and assessment to speakers and demonstrators of spirit communication within the Spiritualist movement.

The Scheme is administered by the SNU's Training & Awards Committee who aim to improve the quality of public speaking and spirit mediumship within the Spiritualist movement. The committee keeps a register of PAS award holders and publicise them in the SNU diary and this website.

Spiritualist churches and centres should be confident that platform accredited workers will have a good level of knowledge and practical ability in public speaking and/or spirit mediumship. PAS award holders should have an ability to present themselves well and act as excellent ambassadors for Spiritualism.

Advice for potential Students

Upon application, students will receive full details about the scheme.

The PAS scheme is not for complete beginners, students speakers must have experience of working publically on the platform and student demonstrators must be proficient at Spiritualist mediumship not relying solely on psychic links.

Cost Entry on the Scheme, £5
Eight training sessions, £6 per session.
National Assessment Fee.
Requirements Full member of an SNU affiliated church or centre
OR a class B member of the SNU
Academic Requirement SNU Education course - SD1 (Basic Speaking & Demonstrating) (Grade A or B)

Training: Training normally takes place at SNU churches on Saturdays, each training day comprises two sessions one on speaking and one on demonstrating. Students must take 8 sessions in their chosen category, if a student is enrolled on only one category then other arrangements will be made for them.

Log Book: Students will be given a log-book to get signed by tutors at training sessions. Trainees must participate in at least 25 public services and, as proof, an officer of the church must sign their log book.

Assessment: Students are assessed by the session tutors at the end of each session. Students must then attend a national assessment board, usually in their district. Here a final assessment is made as to whether the student can demonstrate good ability in speaking or mediumship, successful students will be granted the PAS award. An administrative charge will be made for this details on application.
