Arbitration Committee
The Arbitration Committee is a sub-committee of the SNU and reports
directly to the National Executive Committee (NEC). The Arbitration
Committee's functions are to:-
- Deal with all complaints unless
responsibility is assigned under the Bye-laws to another body.
- Appoint mediators, to endeavour to secure an amicable settlement by
agreement.
- Appoint members of the Arbitration Panel, as may be necessary, to
hear complaints.
- Transfer complaints to the NEC, if it considers it to be the more
appropriate body to deal with the matter.
- Exercise powers in relation to complaints as are provided for in the
Bye-laws.
- If it thinks necessary, require security for costs before
undertaking hearings; and
- Make orders for costs in accordance with the Bye-laws
- Make, alter or revoke its rules of procedure.
- Keep records of all complaints referred to it and decisions made.
